Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) boasts a membership in excess of 113,000 which continues to grow each year. In order to keep our members motivated and to ensure the viability of the organisation, it is important that we provide our members with opportunities to develop their skills and abilities.
Surf lifesaving is more than just patrols and surf sports. Whilst our strategic intent is 'Saving Lives on Beaches' it is all members - patrolling lifesavers, training officers, administrators, etc - that make sure that this happens. It is therefore important that members are provided with a variety of opportunities to learn and participate depending on their own interests and abilities, no matter how old (or young) they are or how long they have been involved.
Developing our members is more than simply teaching the skills required for surf lifesaving, it is also about developing skills that can be used in everyday life.
