Clubhouse Renovations Status

Scott Baines and Peter Lockhart, members of the club's Building Committee, have advised that Wollonong Council has received the Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit which will allow Council to re-commence construction of the Sandon Point Surf Life Saving Club. Council will be liaising with the builder shortly to confirm the timeframe required to re-commission the site - hopefully during February.

Thank you to Wollongiong Council, local resisents, Aboriginal Officers and local groups and various consultants for their support and willingness to work together during this process.

Point to Point Swim

Due to circumstances around the delayed clubhouse renovations, Sandon Point Surf Club is unfortunately not able to run the annual Point to Point ocean swim in January 2012. We look forward to hopefully resuming the event in the future.

Temporary Facilities - Sandon Point

Due to the discovery of heritage items on the site of the Sandon Point Surf Life Saving Club refurbishment work have been delayed and will not be completed until 2012. To ensure the Surf Club is able to operate during the 2011/2012 swim season, Council has arranged for temporary public amenities, including toilets, to be located adjacent to the car park. Council has consulted with the Surf Club, the Aboriginal community and residents overlooking the car park before deciding on the location of these temporary facilities.
